Historia - History

La Historia de la Hacienda, tambien conocida como La casa Mickey, La Casona, La Casa Blanca, o La Clinica.

The Hacienda, also once known as the Mickey Mouse House, La Casona (the Big House), The white house, or the clinic has a varied history.

Construida por el Dr. Guillermo Corse Luna a finales de 1920's. Se rumora que el Dr. era un hombre extremadamente guapo y que queria mucho a las mujeres, señoritas, señoras, jovenes o viejas, las amaba a todas. Dicen las malas lenguas que varios matrimonios fueron afectados por su culpa. Arribo a Todos Santos y establecio la Calera y abastecio al estado de cal. Este producto se usaba en la construcion (como cemento) y para emplastar los muros. Se puede ver el uso de cal en la Hacienda en las paredes.

Built by Dr. Guillermo Corse Luna in the late 1920's. Who rumor has it was a very handsome man and loved the ladies, single, married, young or old, he loved them all. It is rumored that he broke up several marriages. He arrived to Todos Santos and established a Lime producing business. It supplied Lime to most of the state. The Lime was used as a joint compound as well as for plaster. You can see the Lime was used in this building to join the bricks and for the very thick plaster coat on the walls.

La Hacienda fue construida al estilo tradicional, alrededor de un jardin central. Todavia se pueden apreciar los pisos de cemento pulido con sus diseños. (Se pueden apreciar en la foto de mi guapo Barman) Las paredes tienen mas de 40 cm de ancho con una altura de mas de 3 metros. Lo cual ayudo a para evitar el clima caliente del desierto. Los techos tienen vigas de tablones para dar fuerza a la estructura.

The Hacienda was built around a traditional open air courtyard with all the rooms surrounding the courtyard. You can still see the very beautiful polished cement floors with their intricate scored designs. (as seen in the picture of my very handsome barman) The walls of the building are over a foot thick with very high ceilings. This made for protection from the hot desert climate. The ceilings have large wooden cross beams that hold the roof up.

Detras de la Hacienda se pueden ver las ruinas de los establos y habitaciones de los trabajadores asi como una pila y la cocina al aire libre.

Behind the main hacienda you can still see the ruins of the old stables and staff quarters. There is also a huge cistern and the old outdoor kitchen area.

Despues de la muerte del Dr. Corse Luna, la Hacienda fue usada como clinica o hospital. Varios Todos Santeños nacieron aqui. En esos tiempos el jardin central fue techado con teja de asbestos. (Quitamos este techo y lo reemplazamos con una Palapa tipo Vallarta) Despues fue las officinas delegacionales y mucho despues un kinder. Eso fue cuando se empezo a conocer como la casa mickey por un letrero pintado en el edificio de un Mickey y Minie Mouse.

After the death of Dr. Corse Luna, the Hacienda was used as a clinic or hospital. Many Todos Santos babies were born here. At that time, asbestos corrugated roof was added over the courtyard. (We removed the old roof and replaced it with the Vallarta style palapa) Later, it became the Mayors office, and much later a kindergarden and as such, known as the Mickey Mouse house because of a cute sign with mickey mouse painted on the building.

La familia Cota Moreno empezo la remodelacion en Octubre del 2009. Durante la remodelacion hubo instancias donde "sentimos" cosas. Honestamente, si pienso que La Hacienda tiene sus espiritus. Hemos escuchado bebes llorando o una señora saludando "Buenos Dias!" o visto una sombra caminando por el cuarto principal o como se emparejan las puertas de la entrada, esto sin viento que las mueva. No sentimos miedo, al contrario sentimos que los espiritus estan felices de la nueva vida que tiene la propiedad.

The Cota Moreno family started renovation of the building in October 2009. During the remodel we had many instances where we "felt" things. I can honestly say that I feel the Hacienda is haunted by spirits. Several of us still hear babies crying, or an older woman calling out "Buenos, dias!", a shadow or person moving across the main room and the entry doors closing(one by one) when there is no wind to move them. The thing is, instead of feeling scared we feel like these spirits are welcoming the way the property has come to life again.
